The One Fish Dangerous Fish List & How to Survive Them
Every dangerous fish in The One Fish, ranked: bomb fish, shark, anglerfish, pink-dreams, spiny fish, skeleton and more (checked Aug 14, 2026).
The dangerous fish in The One Fish, roughly in order of the damage they do: the bomb fish, the shark, the anglerfish, the tornado shark, the pink-dreams fish, the spiny fish, the skeleton, heavy catches like the swordfish, and the dancing and music fish. The Steam store page officially names only the harmless clownfish and the explosive bomb fish, so every other entry below is player-observed in launch-week footage. Two standing rules run through all of it. One: call out what is coming over the rail before it reaches the boat, so the crew knows what they are dealing with. Two: never let a dangerous fish into the net in the first place, because several of the fish below do their worst once they are inside it.
Version note: this tier list was checked on August 14, 2026 against the Early Access launch build of August 12, 2026. Anything that could not be verified against a source is marked not yet confirmed.
Why Danger Matters
Danger in The One Fish is not a single death; it is three kinds of loss, and the launch streams show all three. The bomb fish can take the whole crew in one detonation, so one wrong catch ends the day for everyone, not just one player. The anglerfish eats the other fish inside the ship’s net, which means a bad catch can also delete the day’s haul. And the shark attacks players directly and can drag one into the sea, which costs the crew a member. Wipe, lost fish, lost player: every hazard below fits one of those three, which is why crews treat dangerous fish as a category of their own.
Explosive: The Bomb Fish
The bomb fish is the one dangerous fish the developer names outright: the Steam store description uses it as the explosive counterpart to the harmless clownfish, so its existence and its explosion are official. What “explodes” means in practice comes from launch-week player footage: in the 3-player Portuguese launch stream, one bomb fish detonation wiped the crew and left only a single player standing. The 4-player Turkish launch stream shows the same behavior, and both crews treat the bomb fish as the run-ender. It sits at the top of this tier list for one reason: it is the only fish that converts one bad catch into a total crew wipe. If a bomb fish is coming up, the standing rule applies twice: shout it out before it reaches the boat, and keep it out of the net.
Aggressive: Anglerfish, Shark, and Tornado Shark
The anglerfish is the net’s worst enemy. In the 4-player Turkish launch stream, the players warn about it explicitly: it attacks players, and once it is inside the ship’s net it attacks and eats the other fish in there. A full net plus one anglerfish equals an empty net, so this fish threatens the day’s haul even before it touches a player.
The shark is the “lost player” hazard. It attacks players, and player footage shows it dragging a player into the sea, where the player drowns. Both launch streams show the shark, so this is the most consistently confirmed threat on the list, and the one that removes a crew member outright rather than just damaging them.
The tornado shark is the rarest of the three. The 3-player Portuguese launch stream shows a shark with a tornado-style effect, which the Portuguese players called “Shark Nido”. Its full behavior beyond that footage, and its official name, are not yet confirmed.
Mind-Bending: Pink-Dreams Fish
The pink-dreams fish does not need to bite you to disable you. The Portuguese players in the 3-player launch stream described its effect on the screen: it inverts your view. The Turkish players in the 4-player launch stream described the rest: it makes players dizzy and can trap them. “Pink-dreams” is the player nickname, not an official name, and the fish’s real name is not yet confirmed. It ranks below the killers on this tier list because it does not end the run by itself, but a player who cannot see straight is no help to the crew while the other hazards are out.
Damaging: Spiny Fish and Skeleton
The spiny fish is a proximity hazard. Its spikes hurt players who get too close, per the 4-player Turkish launch stream, so it punishes carelessness rather than contact. The danger is worst in tight spaces where walking past the fish is the only option.
The skeleton is the one hazard that triggers through a player’s own hands: it attacks while a player is holding it, as shown in the 4-player Turkish launch stream. It is the only fish on this list that punishes you for picking it up, which makes it easy to underestimate until someone carries it around the boat.
The Weight Trap: Heavy Catches
Not every danger bites or explodes; some of it is pure weight. Launch-week player footage shows heavy catches pulling players toward the water, and the 3-player Portuguese launch stream shows the extreme case: a huge swordfish or marlin that is very hard to reel in. Whether the official name is swordfish or marlin is not yet confirmed. The exact weight mechanics, such as which fish can drag a player in and how much reeling strength counters it, are also not yet confirmed. What is confirmed is the pattern: a catch that fights the line can pull a player into the water, so a heavy bite is a crew problem, not a solo one.
Control-Loss Fish: Dancing and Music
The dancing fish takes control away outright. It forces nearby players to dance, as seen in the 4-player Turkish launch stream, which means whoever stands near it stops doing their job until the effect ends.
The music fish plays music around itself, also from the 4-player Turkish launch stream. The players there treat it as a control hazard, but what exactly it does to nearby players beyond the music is not yet confirmed. Both fish share the same lesson as the pink-dreams fish: a fish that takes away your control is dangerous even when it deals no damage.
Shop Hazards: The Landmine
The shop itself sells hazards. The landmine is a shop item, and launch-week player footage shows the simple, brutal result of stepping on one: instant death. It is not a fish, but it belongs on this list because it is bought with the same money the catches bring in, and one wrong step ends the run the same way an explosion does. The shop also carries a Chance/Luck gamble option, seen in the 4-player Turkish launch stream; its odds and outcomes are not yet confirmed. The same two rules cover shop items: announce what you just bought before you place it, and know where an instant-kill item is before you set it down.
