The One Fish Launch Checklist: Week One Survival
Launch checklist for The One Fish Early Access: the 10% intro offer, the 3 GB system spec, the camera-lock fix, and how to report bugs well.
Five moves cover launch week in The One Fish: buy while the 10% introductory offer is live, confirm your PC clears the minimum specs (3 GB of storage included), let Steam finish updating before you play, treat invite confusion as normal and quitting to the menu as the fix for a locked camera, and read the Steam announcements after every patch. The One Fish entered Steam Early Access on August 12, 2026 from re:try, and this checklist is the day-3 snapshot: three official announcements landed in the first two days, and the store listed the game at 76% positive when this page was written.
Version note: patch notes, prices and bug statuses on this page were verified on August 14, 2026 — day 3 of the Early Access launch (August 12, 2026). re:try is patching nearly daily during launch week, so treat this checklist as a snapshot.
Week One Reality
The One Fish launched into Steam Early Access on August 12, 2026 as an online co-op fishing game for 1-6 players, and August 14 is only day 3. The week is moving fast, so keep three things in mind.
First, the numbers: as of August 14, 2026 the Steam store lists the game as Mostly Positive, with 76% of 60 user reviews positive — a small but friendly launch-week sample. Second, the patch rhythm: re:try posted three Steam announcements in the first two days. The launch post went up on August 12, HOTFIX 1 followed under two hours later the same day, and a Small Update landed on August 13. Third, the developer is reading feedback: both patch notes open by thanking players for their reports, and HOTFIX 1 says the team wanted to “address these issues ASAP.” Expect more change — the Small Update promises more content “very, very soon.”
Before You Play
The store is still running its introductory offer: 10% off until August 19, 2026. If you are on the fence, the discount window is the deadline that matters; what pricing looks like after it ends is not yet confirmed.
Then the machine. The official minimum requirements are Windows 10 (64-bit), an Intel Core i5, 8 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060, DirectX 11, a broadband connection and 3 GB of available storage. The store’s recommended column only repeats the 64-bit OS line, so treat the minimum spec as the practical bar — the game is a 3 GB install either way.
Finally, update before you play. Steam handles updates automatically, but verify the game is current before your first session: two patches landed within the first day, and the Small Update fixed resolution errors and “fish physics sometimes acting strange.” Playing an outdated build means meeting bugs that are already fixed.
During a Session
Expect the first lobby to take a minute. Joining runs through Steam’s friend system, the store never spells out the flow, and launch-week players felt it: in one launch-day gameplay video a crew member asked “how do you invite? I don’t know” while the group worked it out. Budget a few minutes of lobby fumbling before the first cast, and be patient with whoever is hosting.
The launch-week camera bug has a simple workaround. If your camera locks in place, quit to the menu and rejoin the session — that is the player-reported fix. Whether a patch has permanently fixed the lock is not yet confirmed, so keep the workaround handy. One reviewer also hit a blue screen while joining a friend; if that happens, retry the join.
After an Update
Updates are arriving nearly daily, and each one changes what you know. After every patch, open the Steam announcements and the official X account and read the note before you play.
Two habits make this quick. First, scan for your bug: the Small Update literally lists “Fixed fish physics sometimes acting strange” — that is the language to look for. If your issue is not named, do not assume it is fixed; re-test and report again. Second, re-read the balance lines: the Small Update changed special event frequency, moved the shop to every other day and nerfed enemy spawns, so numbers from day 1 can be stale by day 3. A two-minute read keeps your whole crew current.
Known Bugs to Expect
This list is the day-3 snapshot from player reports; re:try has already patched some of it, so re-check against the announcements before you panic.
- Camera locking in place. Reported by players during launch week; quit to the menu and rejoin as the workaround. Fix status not yet confirmed.
- Magnet fish. One Steam review says its collision “doesn’t seem to work as if it were playtested at all” — expect odd physics around it until a patch note says otherwise.
- Invite confusion. The launch-day video quote above is the standard experience; the buttons are easier to find than to explain.
- No tutorial. Early Access reviews asked for one, and nothing official had been published as of August 14, 2026 — shop items and upgrades are learned by using them.
- Round-ruining odds and ends. Player reports also include an object getting stuck in the player model and a blue screen when joining a friend.
Keep this section short-lived: HOTFIX 1 and the Small Update already fixed disappearing basket fish and physics weirdness, and the developer’s pace suggests more fixes are coming.
Report Bugs
The developer is listening — the record shows it. HOTFIX 1 shipped under two hours after launch, both patches open with thanks for player feedback, and the launch post itself asks players to “leave any feedback or ideas” on the road to 1.0.
So report what you find the way the team can use it: post in the Steam discussions with what you were doing, what happened, and the steps to reproduce it. Be polite — launch week is rough for a small studio — and be specific. A clear repro is what gets a bug into the next hotfix, and the next hotfix is probably hours away.
