The One Fish Early Access Roadmap: What Is Confirmed
No official early access roadmap for The One Fish yet. What re:try shipped on days one and two, what players are asking for, what the store page promises.
Right now there is no official early access roadmap for The One Fish. As of August 14, 2026 — two days after the Early Access launch on Steam — developer re:try has not posted a feature list, a milestone timeline, or a 1.0 target date anywhere. What exists instead: a launch announcement asking for feedback “as we move towards 1.0”, a launch-day HOTFIX 1, an August 13 Small Update promising “more way more content and updates coming… very, very soon”, and a store page without any roadmap section. This page separates what is officially confirmed from what players are asking for, and gets updated with every new Steam announcement.
Version note: announcements, patch notes and player feedback on this page were checked on August 14, 2026, two days after the Early Access launch on August 12, 2026.
Is There an Official Roadmap?
No. We checked every official channel on August 14, 2026. The Steam store page describes the game in one screen of text but has no roadmap section, and it does not even carry the standard Early Access question-and-answer box, so there is no official statement of how long Early Access might last. All three Steam announcements so far — the launch post, HOTFIX 1 and the Small Update (8.13.26) — cover the launch and immediate fixes; none lists planned features. The official X account @theonefishgame, the press kit and the official YouTube channel carry launch media but no roadmap document.
Everything the developer has said about the future fits in two sentences. The launch post: “Please leave any feedback or ideas you’d like to see as we move towards 1.0!” The Small Update: “We have more way more content and updates coming to the game very, very soon!” That is the entire official commitment as of now. Any specific promise — a 1.0 date, a content roadmap, an Early Access duration — is not yet confirmed.
What the Developer Has Already Shipped
Two days in, re:try has shipped three posts and two patches since launching on August 12, 2026 at $7.19 (10% launch discount off $7.99).
HOTFIX 1, posted on launch day, made three changes: more frequent events during runs, working push-to-talk mic settings, and a fix for fish sometimes disappearing from the ship basket.
The Small Update on August 13 was a larger balance-and-bug pass. On the balance side: special events occur more often, the shop appears every other day, hot zones more rewarding (rarer catches, a chance at two fish at once, faster bites), ship fishing catches junk more often for difficulty, enemy spawns nerfed and scaled to party size, rare and legendary odds slightly reduced at base luck, luck and strength upgrades slightly nerfed, and fewer urchins during the Urchin Infestation event. Bug fixes: fish physics acting strange, the Chill Mode inventory upgrade not applying until a reload, some resolution errors, mines not exploding when triggered, player scaling not resetting after big or small mode, and some camera-inside-the-body scenarios. The patch notes even close with a one-word joke line, “fih”, echoing an early player review.
For roadmap watchers the cadence is the story: two patches in two days, both reacting to launch-week feedback, plus an explicit “very, very soon” promise.
What Players Are Asking For
With no official roadmap, the clearest signal of what may come next is launch-week feedback. Reviews are Very Positive overall (56 of 70 positive).
Tutorial and clarity. Keno | タツ: “we need to know what stuff does. Tutorial could help or a book.” Rambrissot: “i have no idea what to do there is no lvl telling u want to do… need a lvl to show u how to play.”
Magnet fish and collision. AUnknownPerson5: “Collision physics need a lot of work especially with the magnet fish which… doesn’t seem to work as if it were playtested at all.” The 8.13.26 patch fixed fish physics “acting strange”, but whether the magnet fish specifically is fixed is not yet confirmed.
Camera problems. AUnknownPerson5 also reported “a few bugs where the camera will get locked in place”; Le0n_12: “i ate a big fish and i became big but my camera did not change and i could not see”; SpankyOnur’s negative review describes something stuck in the player model blocking the view for a whole round. The 8.13.26 patch already addressed camera-inside-body and player scaling in “some scenarios”.
More content. Vamp (Russian review): more mutations, new fish, new biomes, more cosmetics, a chat, emotes, and paying to revive a teammate. light yagami: “its feels repetitive not much good concept but not enough content.” Xela: “the dev actually listens to the problems faced by the players… Hope more can be added.” MAJ McWeiner: “Can’t wait for what the future holds for this game!”
All of these are player requests, not developer promises — but the first two patches show re:try reading them, and launch-week player streams show the build they target.
What the Store Page Promises
The store page is the closest thing to an official feature statement. The short description: “An online co-op game for 1-6 players where you fish with your friends to feed The One Fish! Catch fish of all shapes, sizes, and whimsical effects to keep up with its ever-growing appetite.” Variety is the pitch: “From a harmless clownfish to an explosive bomb fish, you never know what’s at the end of your line.”
Two features are named explicitly. Ability fish: “Some fish possess unique abilities that can affect you or all your friends.” And Chill Mode: “Take a breather in chill mode! Explore a cozy little island alone or with friends and unwind.” The game is tagged Early Access alongside Action, Casual and Indie, and supports single-player, multiplayer and online co-op.
What the store page does not promise is a plan: no roadmap section, no Early Access Q&A box, no stated duration. The official promises today are the gameplay above, the fixes already shipped, and the “very, very soon” line.
How We Track It
This page is our Early Access update log. Every time re:try posts a Steam announcement, we verify it against the official text and fold it in: new fixes are appended above, and any roadmap, milestone list or 1.0 date gets its own section at the top. The version note and Sources block are stamped with the check date.
Status on August 14, 2026: three announcements, zero roadmap posts, one explicit “very, very soon” promise. If you are reading this later, check the Steam announcements hub and official X account first — that is where a roadmap would land.
